House of Lähde

The house of Lähde (a well in English) is located in Kivijärvi, in the middle of Finland 130 kilometers North-West from Jyväskylä. The municipality has gotten its name from the beautiful and clearwatered Lake Kivijärvi. Our yard and the buildings are one of the original ones still survived. You can find a main building, a red house, three farmhouses, cowshed made of log and sauna in our courtyard.

The main building and the other house (smoke house) are ones of the oldest buildings in Kivijärvi are both from the early 1900th century. It is known that the main building was used as a hospital during the great hunger years in 1860s. The smoky walls of the red house tell stories from the past when chimneys were not built yet. Risto and Maijaleena Piispanen the owners of Lähde has got several diplomas concerning taking good care of the heritage on traditional finnish courtyards in the countryside. The house of Lähde offers an ideal surrounding for the family and business meetings. Those can be planned based on the customer needs meanwhile respecting the nature and sustainable development.

Bed and breakfast is served around the year in the main building for maximum six persons. During summertime maximum ten guests can spend the night at the same time in the romantic farmhouses. On request we also offer you the original finnish Sauna. An exotic and relaxing moment in the smoke sauna is possible to enjoy in Penttilän kylä which lies about 15 kilometers from the Kivijärvi center. Together with the Sauna you can have a dinner and the piece of beautiful finnish landscape. This is truly an experience both in summer and winter.
